Sexual hormones protect women from illness of Parkinson
Results of the research spent within the limits of the program “Health of the woman” of National institute of health, allow to assume that from illness of Parkinson  of women protect sexual hormones.

Probably, it that fact speaks that women fall ill with illness of Parkinson  much less often than men. Research will be presented at 61st annual meeting of the American academy of neurology which will pass in April in Seattle (USA). However its preliminary results are published earlier.

“Hormonal factors really influence risk of illness of Parkinsona, – the head of research doctor Rachel Saunders-Pullman from Albert Einstein’s Medical college in Bronx (New York) and Medical centre Beth Israel speaks, – but replaceable hormonal therapy of such effect does not give”.

In research the data of 74 000 women at which menopause has come naturally, and 7800 women who have transferred bilateral ovariectomy were used. It was found out that women at whom the period between menarche and menopause was longer, are subject to illness of Parkinsona to a lesser degree.

Among women with natural menopause at which the reproductive period (the period of active production of sexual hormones) has made more than 39 years, the risk of illness of Parkinsona was on 25 % more low.

“Anything surprising in this opening is not present, – comment doctor Saunders-Pullman. – the Parity of disease of illness of Parkinsona at men and women makes 60:40, irrespective of an ethnic accessory. In an organism of women there should be the certain factor possessing neuroprotective action, and it is logical to assume that it is female sexual hormones”.

During research also it is established that at the women who had throughout a life 4 and more pregnancies, risk of illness of Parkinsona on 20 % above, than at the women who were becoming pregnant of 3 and less times.

Among the women who have transferred bilaterial ovariectomy, risk of illness of Parkinsona twice above for those who accepted earlier preparations for replaceable hormonal therapy, than for the women never accepting hormones. At women with natural menopause reception of hormones did not influence risk of illness of Parkinsona.

At the same time doctor Saunders-Pullman has specified in restrictions of this research: it carried Observational character (i.e. examinees did not distribute on groups), besides on presence or absence at them illnesses of Parkinsona were informed by participants, and this data has not been confirmed by special researches.

As has noted doctor Saunders-Pullman, many doctors already appoint preparations for hormonal therapy with care – in as it is possible for a smaller dose and for shorter term. Results of research justify such tactics.
