Cambridge scientists have conducted the most precise operation
As a tool used microscopic laser scalpel. Surgical intervention was carried out by doctors at the same cell of the skin, without affecting neighboring. Using this technology, you can work with the components of the cell whose size is only a few nanometers.

This accuracy is achieved accurate focusing of the laser beam through a system of mirrors and lenses. To beam is not damaged by heating the surrounding structure, it generates very short pulses of a few femtoseconds (one millionth of a share of one-billionth of a second).

Researchers hope that the future of technology will find application in medicine. In the meantime, they refused to comment on the practical aspect of laser nanohirurgii, referring to the fact that the technology is still very new. In addition, to achieve any therapeutic effect can succeed only operated on millions of cells in a row, that while it is technically impossible.
